11 Months
For 11 months my husband and I have been on an amazing new adventure. We simply said “Yes” when a door opened.
82 Days
It’s been crazy busy – and we do not regret for one second this decision.
If you want a life of adventure, say yes to Jesus. You never know where He will take you in this amazing world! Who you will meet! What you will get to do!
Last December, David and I answered the call to assist with the Trinity International University Men’s Soccer Program in Deerfield, Illinois. Honestly – something neither of us dreamed of but it was right to say yes. David has served an assistant Coach and I have served as the Chaplain, or Team Mom – I think I may the second title better.
Neither of us knew exactly what these new assignments meant. We couldn’t see how we could balance our time and energy and duties. We could not imagine how tired a person can be after two weeks of pre-season camp. We could not foresee the miles we would drive and the cups of coffee we would consume over the next 10 months.
Neither could we have imagined the joyous laughter in the classroom, on the field, in vans, in our home. We couldn’t see the tears we would cry with players over illnesses and loss and heartbreak and dreams shattered. There was no thought of emergency rooms, ambulance rides or surgeries. There was no way to see the joy before us as well celebrated successes and saw marriages begin and people reach dreams.
There was only one thought: when God calls, you answer yes.
At times, I’ve felt too old. Unqualified. Inadequate.
Lies.
God calls, He equips, He qualifies, He provides the energy and stamina and direction for His will to be done.
If only we say “Yes!”
Where is God calling you today? What door is open before you that you are afraid to walk through?
Go! It won’t be easy! But it is so worth it!
